Do-Overs Are More Than Mere Coincidences

“Starting over can be the scariest thing in the entire world, whether it’s leaving a lover, a school, a team, a friend or anything else that feels like a core part of our identity but when your gut is telling you that something here isn’t right or feels unsafe, I really want you to listen and trust in that voice.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

How do you pick up the pieces and rebuild your dream?

I just read that and couldn’t help but think of the books.  The difficult part of “letting go” is acceptance.  Is it true that legitimacy had fled my publishing deal?  Would the books die within the industry as a result?

Nope.  Time to reconstruct.

Kathryn, Ravens, Tall ship

Kathryn is a fighter and she begged to “Hoist the Colours” and meet the challenge of being re-discovered all over again.  I couldn’t let her down.  So, I let go and walked away from a dream that I’d had placed with faith in a con artist’s hands.  I refused to be defeated, raised the proverbial “Do-Over” flag, and set my sights to the future.  It was time to find a new publisher – one that I could trust and one that left a trail of legitimacy behind it.

I found Doce Blant Publishing.  Together, we will release a “Do-Over” in the 3rd edition of The Deja vu Chronicles.  Sometime this fall, when the leaves turn the color of crimson and the wind takes a chilly edge, the books will come out … again.  It’s a perfect representation of what has happened with The Deja vu Chronicles.  The series has been written, re-written, edited for the ump-teenth time, and will be reborn as a newer edition.

“Birthing is never easy or without pain, be it a universe, a child, or a fresh start in life. Contraction precedes expansion. Darkness comes before dawn. Joy follows pain. This is the way of things.”
John Mark Green

Birth-of-a-bookI like how Mr. Green describes it – the birth of a new edition has come truly without pain.  But it brings with it a sense of peace that has not accompanied the previous editions.  This time, the story is complete and written the way it was meant to be written.  Kathryn’s tale has been told the way she wanted it.  The final chapter will come forth in the last book: Cutthroat’s Omen: A Crimson Dawn – a gift that will happen sometime around the holidays.

Watch for it.  Take a look at the final edition of The Deja vu Chronicles.  If the covers hint of what lies inside, it’s sure to be magnificent.  Let me know what you think and let’s keep a weathered eye out for the 3rd (and final) edition of The Deja vu Chronicles.
